Broadway Musicals Through the Years: a Collection of Original Watercolor Paintings
John Savidge
Broadway Musicals Through the Years: A Collection of Original Watercolor Paintings illuminates the cultural, economic, and artistic evolution of New York's Times Square area. From Broadway's early beginnings--which predate the formal existence of the United States--to the present, author and artist John M. Savidge presents a beautifully illustrated timeline of Broadway musical history, complete with 136 full-color, original watercolor paintings. Uncover the reasons why political satire, Prohibition, the introduction of the automobile, war, and the popularity of film molded Manhattan's Broadway into the glittering, bustling theater district we have today.
