Born in the mid-1970s in the small town of Greenridge, Michigan, Daniel O'Regan enlists in the army after a series of personal tragedies compel him to escape his past. Following a three-year stint in Germany, he opts for a promotion to Special Forces. His work as a demolitions engineer takes him to East Africa, where he finds himself fighting the growing pre-9/11 al-Qaida terrorist threat. After eight years of service, Daniel chooses to leave East Africa and return to the United States. He finds a job, marries, and joins the Army Reserve. Just as he reaches a point where he is content with his life, his battalion is activated to serve in Iraq. While stationed in there, he accidentally discovers a covert operation that, if revealed, could cause international scandal and further destabilize the Middle East. Email From Camp Khatar is a story of a Gen X everyman who, when faced with a moral dilemna, finds himself capable of great determination and courage.
