Veiled Summer is a poignant story set in the Ireland of the 1930', 40's and 50's and spanning seven decades.

In the summer of 1943, Annie Luhan, a 17-year-old naïve country girl, having finished her exams at the Convent Secondary School, finds work at Fernmount House. To Annie, Fernmount represents a world that she has only ever dreamed of. From her first encounter with charming Edward Ashby, it appears even more wonderful. But her grand vision is soon to be shattered when she becomes the victim of an all-consuming, dark passion that resides within its walls. Powerless against rank, privilege and the prevailing social climate, Annie is blamed for events for which she is entirely innocent. She is made to pay a devastating price while the perpetrator goes unpunished.

Veiled Summer is told through the eyes of Annie's son, Seánie, a successful London Art Dealer, whose personal life is in tatters. Following an unexpected invitation, he returns to Ireland in the summer of 2001, seeking answers to the questions that hang over his birth and to bring an end to his struggle with his own identity. His search uncovers murky secrets, a destructive chain of events and the betrayal of love.

What did happen in 1943 had heartbreaking consequences for Annie and for all who were touched by that Veiled Summer.
