Trevor Heneke's life changes when his wife leaves him for another man. Sidetracked by his grown daughter's marital troubles, he stays on in Portage, where she lives, and begins a new chapter in his own life. He falls in love with the flirtatious 'Manda Cunningham, 30 years his junior, while the two meddle and scheme ways to hold his daughter's marriage together. 'Manda's jealous husband, George, hires an out-of-town private detective to reveal 'Manda's indiscretions. However, the detective acts on his own directives and all the town's secrets are quickly unraveled. Evilness afoot, the detective stalks the town stirring it up til it goes too far and George discovers he's hired the most dangerous man to walk the streets. It isn't long before this peaceful small town is entangled in lover's trysts, gossip, car theft, murder, and a hanging. Trevor's seemingly innocent journey opens doors he never expects, reminding us that life is not over til we're dead.
