This College textbook is informative, stimulating, practical, contextual, and easily readable. It sparks students' interest in studying the Catholic social teaching; it leads them to a more mature understanding of committed social engagement with the poor; it directs them to the discovery of the hidden Christ who "emptied himself and took the form of a slave" (Phil. 2:7); it connects or integrates their academic professional subjects and non-academic subjects to their Christian Faith; and it accompanies them to a committed and responsible engagement with labor and ecology. The Textbook is divided into five chapters, namely: Commitment, Catholic Social Teaching, Responsible Engagement, Engagement with Labor, and Engagement with Ecology. The book is student-friendly. It provides set of activities, case studies, discussion questions and projects. Each chapter has the following basic components: chapter Title, Opening, Context, Exposition, Integration, Summary, Review, and Paraliturgy. The chapters are interspersed with numerous Student Activities that help introduce, synthesize, or apply the key ideas being discussed. They provide various ways of presenting and developing the discussion, and they cater to a broad range of interests, intelligences, and skills. The Appendix contains activity forms that are to be used for some of the Student Activities in the chapter. The activity forms help students reflect on the key ideas presented in the chapter.
