Alice Spalding is a one of a handful of secretive scientists that study phenomena from outside the physical universe. In other words, she's a wizard. When her friend Lilly asks Alice to investigate the haunting of her distant relatives, Alice assumes the ghost is as fake as the medium claiming to speak with the apparition. To her surprise, Alice discovers there may be some truth to the family's spiritual experiences, but what she uncovers reveals unexpected darker implications than a simple poltergeist.
