He spent his youth in Arizona and has worked as a rancher, auctioneer, rodeo announcer, and TV anchor. Since retiring, he and his wife Pat have done extensive research on the Old West, accumulating a vast library of historical books, diaries, and papers. He lives in Springdale, Arkansas.
