This book is about Mission Santa Cruz when it was Mexico, and the California land grabs of Mission Santa Cruz, Villa de Branciforte and Rancho San Andres that took place more than 30 years after the end of the 1848 Mexican-American War. The murder of the Castro heirs to the more than 9,900 acres of ocean-front land, and the dismantling of the famous 160 room luxury hotel called, "The Magnolia Rose" has created a series of haunting. The Mexican-Spanish Anzarins "Guardians of the Vase" were murdered so abruptly that they travel between the relocated pieces of their once great "Victorian" mansions of Mission Santa Cruz Alta California.
