The War Between the States was devastating. In human life alone it was the most costly of all wars fought by the U. S. Statistics, however, do not include the damage done to the mental well being of the young survivors. It would take years, decades and even longer for many to recover. Some never did. "Beyond Sundown" is the tale of one survivor, Mead Van Horn. As an infantryman Mead fought in many battles. In the battle of Mission Ridge he was captured and became a prisoner of war in one of the most notorious of Civil War prisons camps, Andersonville. Upon discharge he set out to find the sister he had been separated from during the war. On his quest he teamed up with a wagon train on its journey to Oregon. Along the way he struggled to rid himself of his obsessive hatred while battling Indians, thieves and the elements. "Beyond Sundown" is the chronicle of that epic saga.
