Cadillacs, Western Movies & Sugar Train Robbery
Mr. Tom W. Beck II
On the afternoon of February 20, 1920 the payroll train of the Kekaha Sugar Company on the island of Kauai was en route to the Mana cane worker?s camp for its monthly payroll distribution when an unknown person stepped out of the adjacent high sugar cane field and took the payroll. Much like an old western train robbery movie this, the only known train robbery in Hawaii, created quite a stir on this tiny, usually easy-going island community. This unique, true situation led the author of ?Cadillacs, Western Movies & Sugar Train Robbery? to further investigate into the accused robber?s life and Hawaii during these times which led to putting together a series of facts laced with fiction which is hoped will be of interest to readers of all ages.
