For five years, I was told daily that I would never be anything.  I was physically punished for no reason at all.  I was treated as a slave in some aspects by a step father that hated me for no reason.  Some days I wish I could remember what all those five years held, other days I am thankful for the memory loss.  I lived with the abuse but never spoke a word.  I was told that I would be killed if I told anyone, so I kept it to myself. Unfortunately the abuse did not end with him.  I went on to be sexually abused and emotionally abused through life. 26 years later I am speaking out and telling my story.  How I lived through it, how I survived it and how I came out on top.  I am not healed completely in any way, but I will not give up the fight.  One day at a time my voice will get stronger and louder, and I will give the little girl in me her freedom.  I hope in telling my story that I am able to help someone else deal with being a victim.
