R. M. Bean
... Giveth ... Taketh Away is the story of Richard Summers: a man who craved few things in life. His journey begins in the very last days of a long drawn out war. He and his three teammates begin to dream of home, warm comfortable beds, hot showers, and many other simple pleasures they had not enjoyed in years. But soon, they learn that they must stay a little while longer. These four Americans become guests of a small village located in the foothills of the southern Ural Mountains. It is here that they begin to live again, and become acquainted with the resiliency of the Russian people. Richard learns of a human kindness and authenticity he never thought really existed at all.
