Deep in the south a mutant baby is born into a traditional Native American tribe. She lives past her expected years and is kept hidden and isolated within the tribe. When she ventures out on her own, she causes a media frenzy and is taken captive by the local police. After disappearing from a well protected jail cell, the locals are completely baffled. An elite group of mercenaries rescue this girl, Cherissa from her cell. They take her up to a beautiful crystal castle to be with her own kind. She is taught to use the huge wings on her back. They way she looks and her naturally formed wings make her genetically perfect in their eyes. There are many other mutants engineered to be just like her living there. Cherissa discovers that she is equivalent to royalty and is treated to all of the decadence they possess. When she is courted by the most handsome flyer in the castle, Cherissa realizes that things are not always as they seem. She learns about her history and the dark secrets that created them all back in the fourteenth century. Later she realizes that she has been privy to see life from two perspectives. Growing up poor and treated like a freak, and now celebrated and treated like a princess. After she is acclimated into castle society, she considers trading it all in for a boy back home. Her daring escape almost ends her life over the cold ocean water. When Cherissa arrives back home, she meets an unexpected group of allies. Finally will the boy back home remember what they have together or is all lost in the end?
