In his early 30's, he was promoted to the position of fire captain at a small municipal fire department. Breaking through the cultural norms of becoming a doctor or business person, Mr. Sun became the first Chinese American firefighter, and now, fire captain in a predominately Asian community. His passion of writing and drawing is now translated into this series of books, "When I Grow Up, I Want to Be a..." His hope is to inspire and expose young children to different careers, both traditional and non-traditional.
