About the Book
Valed Secrets covers the Vale family's involvement in the determining events of the Twentieth Century. The book uses events in each of the character's lives to determine their rise to power including individual family member secrets. The story is full of bad puns and contrived events that seem to make it appear serious; however, it is a small study in the absurdities of family interactions and relationships. Noah Vale II is already established as the story's dominant figure when the book opens. We see his rise to power in the munitions business that his father, Noah Vale I, started with the fortune he made trading property during his days in WWI France. Every character's lives are interconnected to the other characters in the book, even without their realizing it.
Selection From the Book
The town was so small that on most days you could swing a dead cat around by its tail and hit either a Vale, a Lolly, or a Stick. However, this morning was different. The fog had settled thick and there were not many people walking the streets. Valeton was not that much different than any other western Pennsylvanian town that was founded by a strong-willed man and controlled generation after generation by his family. But, that's not why it was foggy.
