David M. Smithweck Sr
Lt. Colonel Charles Duval Phillips was commander of the 52nd Georgia Infantry during the Civil War. Captured at Baker's Creek in May 1863, he returned to Georgia in 1865. He was a lawyer, judge, statesman and trustee of the Confederate Soldier's Home in Atlanta. This is his story as told through his letters.
