Over two years ago, I gave an essay assignment to my college students. The intention was for them to have a written proclamation of their commitment to follow their chosen career path. 99% of my students are studying to enter a profession in healthcare. And I know it only gets harder to move on as each class comes to an end and another begins. Thus, having this personal document they could look back and remember why. Why they were once so passionate about helping others. As I began to read over their submissions, the ordinary turned extraordinary. There was a breadth and depth of relayed experiences that could inspire all walks of life. So here they are, over 100 illuminating stories that my students (from several different semesters) wanted to share with the world. They are authentic, in their own language. Even the chapter titles are excerpts from each respective essay. Now it?s time for me to get out of the way and let you go on this journey with them?
