Publisher Marketing: This is the story of a country girl, from the age of twelve, until the present time. The start of the story is an accurate relating of Cathy's life. At some point, the story becomes fictional. It is left to the reader to identify the point at which, fact becomes fiction. Cathy existed, and was a good friend of the author. This is the author's second book, and follows the quite successful, "It's A Funny Old Life." Some of the book contains factual information on agriculture, from horse ploughing and the use of a binder, to milking in a modern dairy system and the feeding of calves. There is also a chapter on how milk gets from the cow to your cup of tea, if that doesn't interest you, omit chapter thirteen. The author has worked in agriculture until his retirement, and ran a two hundred cow dairy unit for many years. He also managed the livestock on a five thousand acre estate in Cheshire. During which time he had to be able to carry out any of the activities that occurred in the day to day running of the six dairy units. Until he was eighteen, he worked with his father on a farm using horses as the main power unit, and milking cows by hand, therefore giving him a good practical knowledge on these subjects.
