It's 2004 and Veteran FBI Special Agent Heat and his young rookie partner Cloe O'Neal are tracking the terrorist known as Lightborne, who killed Heat's father. After yet another bombing, they stumble upon a militia group in New Mexico, Idaho, and Montana financed by the Reverend Wilder Stear, a charismatic leader of the Religious Right/Christian Identity movement, who are determined to blow up the J. Edgar Hoover building in Washington, DC for less than holy reasons. A clever reworking of Joseph Conrad's "The Secret Agent," "Patriot Ghosts" updates Conrad's turn of the century anarchists and bomb throwers into a conspiracy of contemporary domestic terrorism.
