After their parents are brutally murdered, Mason and Simon Taylor, fortunate to have survived, flee Mississippi and escape to New York in the turbulent 60's. Mason becomes a civil rights activist and forms a group called the NEGROES {Neighborhood Economic Growth Reform of Establishments Society} They fight against racism and police brutality while doing things to better the community. Meanwhile, Simon decides to sell heroin there, undermining his brothers efforts. Mason goes after John for the shooting of an unarmed black man, while John tries to gather evidence against Mason and Simon for murders committed in his precinct.
