Economics professor Doug Zwerling wouldn't consider himself a hero in the Greek vein. He spends his days teaching at Vardaman University and his nights pining after the lovely-but unstable-Fritzi Burr. It's only when an old student, Mike Reedy, walks back into his life that he begins to see the potential tragedy ahead.

Mike, who always cared more about the practical applications of economics-that is, how to get rich-than the theory, is now branching out into medical research. He's found the golden goose of the entire pharmaceutical industry: a drug to cure erectile dysfunction. If the drug trials held at Vardaman go well, he could walk away with millions. But this modern-day Hercules isn't willing to just let science work its magic. He might need to skew the results a little.
