Dr. Weiss's story of his young son, Justin's, near-drowning accident and his family's struggle through the difficulty journey of his gradual recovery is a testament to love and courage. Dr. Weiss's search for treatments to help his son lead to his development of treatments for patient's with visual loss (Stem Cell Ophthalmology Treatment Study-SCOTS) and for patient's with neurologic conditions (Neurologic Stem Cell Treatment Study-NEST). He is the former Chief of Retinal Surgery at the Joslin Diabetes Center in Boston, a Faculty member of Harvard Medical School, and a Visiting Scientist at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. "Coming to Life" is Dr. Weiss's sixth book.
