On a hot Texas night in August 1978, Travis McGee wakes from a deep sleep to find he is floating eight inches above his mattress. His room, along with the backyard, is brighter than daylight. The light lasts only moments, but the effects ripple through the lives of Travis, his friends and family, setting off a chain of events that threaten to destroy them all.
