This novel is based out of the Smoky Mountains of Swain County, North Carolina. The story surrounds itself around a deputy sheriff named Charlie Burk. His character is based upon a real life mountaineer that lived from 1880 to 1964 in the town of Bryson City, North Carolina. Charlie Burk begins his journey of adventure by means of a careless act at the age of eighteen. The shooting of a thief in his father's watermelon patch, triggers a series of events that leads him to a life that is both exciting and eventful. Burk's life involves adventure, love, and redemption with a theme of secrecy. The reader will experience a sense of mountain life in the early part of the twentieth century with a sprinkling of historical flavor. SECRET IN THE SMOKIES is a novel that will keep the reader electrified with a sampling of laughter along the way.
