From Valley Boy to Cardiologist Rex N Macalpin

This is one man's memoir covering his roots, growing up and education in California's San Fernando Valley during the 1930s and 1940s, college and medical school education, specialty training in internal medicine and cardiology, active duty in the US Navy as a medical officer, and eventually becoming an academic cardiologist, spending over 50 years teaching and doing research. In addition to marriage and raising a family, areas covered include, exercise physiology, coronary heart disease, cardiac catheterization and biopsy, heart transplantation, electrocardiography, and medico-legal consultation. Teaching and research activities continued for over 28 years in semi-retirement despite personal battles with various cancers.
