At the emergence of the counter-culture in San Francisco, where her older brother began a 50-year career with the Grateful Dead rock 'n' roll band, Miss Marcia Kreutzmann began a road trip south in an Oldmobile Delta 88. On the road, Marcia and her mother came to a misunderstanding. The destination forced by divorce was Mississippi. Five-year-old Marcia heard this as Miss Hippie. The story spans 50 years, beginning in Palo Alto, California, dances a Mephisto Waltz with the backwaters of Biloxi, Missisppi and returns to the hallucinogenic landscape of California of a certain time and place.
