The Draft Constitution - An Explanation of Articles 1-15 S Z Chowdhury

This book explains the first 15 articles of a comprehensive Islamic constitution written originally by Shaykh Taqi al-Din al-Nabhani (d.1977) in 1968. It is a proposed constitution for the implementation by an Islamic State with the legal provenance of each article to enable further scrutiny and assessment. Although the first draft over the past five decades has had minor amendements as well as additions, the first 15 articles have not altered in any way. The commentary on this draft constitution commences a series of forthcoming commentaries that aim to present detailed discussion on each article from the Islamic legal literature - whether modern or pre-modern. It is hoped this series will help contribute to the readers' understanding and appreciation of the constitution but more importantly, realising the need for its implementation.
