Although Europe had been at war for three years, the United States did not declare war on Germany till April 6, 1917. The 42nd Rainbow Division shipped out October 19, 1917. Aboard that flotilla heading for Europe were three brothers, Charles Edward Reed, George Wilbur Reed and Malcolm Farra Reed. This book follows the first hand experience of Charles and Bill who served much of their time together and kept a record of their events in France, Belgium, and Germany.
