Psalms, Hymns, and Spiritual Songs James W Ellis

Music has a marvelous power. Music can imprint eternal truths on the heart and comfort the weary soul. Nondenominational Churches of Christ have a rich musical heritage. The songs of Churches of Christ come from Old Testament psalms and New Testament canticles, from medieval Roman Catholic chants and Reformation hymnody, from America's Great Awakening revivals, and from praise-and-worship trends of the twenty-first century. Psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs explores the diverse people, historical contexts, and biblical foundations that helped shape the song services of the Churches of Christ.
