When Steve Coleman and his best friend, John, join the Marines, they truly believe they're invincible. When they end up in Viet Nam, they find out they're not. During an intense firefight, Steve is wounded trying to save John's life, but he fails. John dies in his arms on the battlefield. Discharged, Steve flies home and encounters an angry group at the airport protesting the war."Baby Killer!" one girl screams at him."Murderer!" another shouts, thrusting her sign in his face. Steve sidesteps the protesters and races for baggage claim. "It's not my war!" Not anymore. All he wants is his old life back. His plan is to forget what happened in 'Nam, marry Becky, the love of his life, and become a "normal" person again. But his demons from the war are determined to make sure that doesn't happen.
