After getting an M. A. in English from theprestigious Madras Christian College inTambaram, Chennai he went to the PerkinsInstitution affiliated to the Boston Universityfor undergoing the Special Teachers' Trainingfor teaching the visually challenged. MY DEAR CHINNOO!4He served in Madras Christian College for morethan 20 years, teaching English and it was duringhis tenure that he brought into being theReaders' Service Wing' which tried its best tobridge the gap between the sighted and thevisually challenged by enthusing the sighted tolearn Braille and write at least one printed bookin Braille. Dr. G. Jayarman has always been instrumental forbringing into being many innovative initiativestowards creating awareness about the plightsand potentials of the visually challenged. He had been instrumental in bringing into beingseveral Organizations of and for the VisuallyChallenged. In 1991 he founded the WELFAREFOUNDATION OF THE BLIND which haseducated visually challenged holding key-posts init and the organization has been conductingawareness exhibitions and seminars and alsopublishing books for highlighting the plights andpotentials of the visually challenged.
