Turtle Tushies in the Land of Banana Beer Anita Pauwels

Before the great sadness, before the decades of unrest, there was a brief time when hope and magic happened, when all you needed was hard work, determination and a good sense of humor. A newly married, nearing middle-age Texas couple with great teeth join the Peace Corps and share their adventures in letters home as they teach inland fish farming to the friendly, hard-working people of Burundi, in Central East Africa. Grappling with motorcycles, banana beer, bugs, frogs, charcoal-spewing Imbabulas, mud, tons of rain, dust, plagues, falling down, getting up, political uncertainties, and language and cultural barriers, they work with courageous people through tears, laughter, muddy adventures, tragedies and triumphs---to become better human beings, and learn that we are all truly One in the heart. Please join us on a journey into the heart of Africa.
