I decided to write Thorns Of A Rose to bring awareness to the issues associated with growing up in the foster care system. According to The Foundation for Foster Children, "more than one in five transitioning youth will become homeless after age 18, more than half experience serious mental health problems and more than 20,000 children each year never leave the system, but remain in foster care until they age out." In my story, I reveal how God helped me discover my strength through self-love, self-determination and self-actualization. This book will take you on a journey through my life as a foster child and how it impacted me as a woman struggling through issues of abandonment, lack of self-worth and depression. I understand that it is through exposing the thorns that the rose can blossom. Today, I am living my purpose-driven life and so can you!
