The news of my husband's death literally took my breath away. God used the sudden loss of my best friend and lover to teach me intimate truths about myself but also, more importantly, about Himself-truths I couldn't have learned aside from my pain, suffering, and brokenness. I am a better woman because I'm a widow than I would have been otherwise. Through intense, penetrating sorrow, God has taught me deep lessons and grown in me the unshakable assurance that He has everything under control (even when I can't make sense of what He is doing) and that His loving purpose can transform something terrible into something wonderful. I have learned what any woman, whether you are single or married or mothering children, who seeks the fullness of life in Christ in this world of uncertainty needs to know: that loss of one kind or another will be part of your life and that by understanding and accepting this, you will gain wisdom that will make today and all your tomorrows fruitful and full.
