The book tells the life story of Samuel Sandoval, WWII Navajo Code Talker. Samuel was one of the 80 Navajo Code Talkers who fully developed and implemented the the Navajo Code during the WW II South Pacific conflict. The book follows Samuel's journey of life beginning on the reservation, his attendance at boarding school, his service as a USMC Marine in WWII, and later as a drug and alcohol counselor and beloved community leader. The book highlights how his life experiences and relationships helped him to overcome the hardships he faced as a combat soldier and led him to help others in his community on the Navajo Reservation. The S. F. S. Museum and Hope Center is a part of Clint Upchurch Foundation.
