The Science Museum of Long Island (SMLI) is a unique science and technology education center housed in the Nassau County-owned Leeds Pond Preserve, a beautiful waterfront park and woodland located on Manhasset Bay. For more than 50 years, the Science Museum of Long Island has been making science education fun and exciting for children of all ages. SMLI provides an interactive, innovative, and hands-on learning environment for pre-school-aged to high-school-aged youngsters. In addition, SMLI offers both adult and family-oriented programs throughout the year that focus on science literacy for everyone. Many of the SMLI programs are described in this book but detailed descriptions and recent additions to the Museum's program offerings are available at http: //www.smli.org, the official Museum website. One brief look and you will understand why he Science Museum of Long Island has been called "Long Island's Best-Kept Secret."
