A parent's life long illness is a struggle for children of every age. This is the case for me. Then, there was poverty. This book of memoir poems explores my life and how I perceive my own life experiences. It touches on family, poverty, love, drugs, and hate. I was inspired to write this book of poems after I saw a mother with two toddler children have a major mental breakdown. I saw myself in the eyes of those children. I thought their future life. Would it be like mine with sleepless nights filled with worry? Like me will they not get a helping hand to soften the mental agony to come. This book contexts the life of one person, me, but the memoirs, the stories and emotions are universal across race, religion and culture. It about fighting the battle that all people face. That eternal, internal struggles that sometimes spill over into the real world. The poetry is easy reading and the emotions are exposed, raw and electric. Be ready to take a deep dive and see what may be revealed in your own life. Let us journey together.
