I discovered that a large number of students have a phobia for any course that deals with figures, especially statistics. The text is designed for application of statistical principles and methodologies in experiments rather than the gory mathematical proofs required for engineering and mathematics. The omission of mathematical details sometimes necessitates more lengthy verbal justification of the statistical ideas for the understanding of students that are not mathematically inclined or endowed. The general format used in this text is to discuss the statistical methodology followed by practical numerical worked examples to acquaint the student with the step-by-step approach to solving the statistical problems. By working through many examples of analyses, it is possible to fully understand how each analysis provides the estimate of the accuracy of the results of each experiment and simultaneously apply the statistical methods.
