Lillian Frankel grew up in the Depression in Chicago, Illinois. Her first job, while attending the University of Chicago, was with the Federal Writer's Project where she was a writer of scripts produced by CBS and NBC. Her work has appeared in Poet Lore, Calvert, Lip Service, G. W. Review, Bread, Style Plus of the Washington Post, and other magazines. Lillian also wrote radio scripts for the U. S. Office of Education and documentary films for the U. S. Department of Agriculture. With her husband, Godfrey Frankel, she co-authored 17 books in the how-to field, has been a contributor to the World Book Encyclopedia and Associate Editor of Young America, a children's weekly magazine, and taught Writing for Children at the Writer's Center. Her work has appeared in Poet Lore, Calvert, Lip Service, G. W. Review, Bread, Style Plus of the Washington Post, and other magazines. This book consists of Lillian's favorite poems compiled by her son, Stephen Frankel (frankelsa@hotmail.com). Her later poems, included in this book, speak of her growing awareness of the onset of Alzheimers disease and her increasing inability of remembering.
