Imagine children being able to draw pictures of who they and how they feel. They could distinguish between the "ME" they were yesterday and the "ME" they are today and see how how they are developing. They could create a picture of who they want to be and figure out how to get there. They would be able to see how their emotions are affecting who they are. Parents would have a tool for discussing difficult topics such as how to remain true to themselves in troubling situations, how to fully become the person they are meant to be, or how to deal with emotions in healthy ways. Adults may also benefit from having a new way of looking at themselves. "Mommy, I Think I Lost My ME!" sets up a model of the child's identity, or ME, as a big bubble filling up the torso with all of the things the child loves to do and the kind of person the child is. Other books in the series will show how identity is affected by different emotions. Look for Book II, "Mommy, What Happens to ME WHen I Am Afraid?" coming soon.
