The closely inter-connected world has certainly changed the approach to doctoring, as well as the degree of responsibility that patients have towards their own health. In an information-rich and data-driven age, a lot of patients are well-informed and inclined to know more about the updates and advancement in the medical field. This is so that they can benefit from the options of treatment for their illnesses. Realising that, it is no more the case that patients are rendered at the receiving end, doing what's being told by their medical professionals. It is, instead, about partnership in trying to optimise the health the patients want to achieve. For the junior doctors, such change is not necessarily easy to handle. With the constant juggle between training pathways, clinical work challenges and keeping the impetus to continue doctoring, the concept of shared health goals and therapeutic partnership with patients can be the least of the focus. This book is written to share with both, the junior doctors and the patients about the dynamics of two different worlds. Hopefully, by doing so, the therapeutic partnership between doctors and patients can be bolstered.
