We find a deeper experience of God in everyday life when we go towards our truth - that of our inner world that has been shaped by our past experiences, as well as the truth that is our universally shared human condition. With this as our foundation we can have a more authentic relationship with God, and in turn, experience the transformative nature of His unconditional love. The obstacles to experiencing God's healing love lie within us, specifically in our emotionally wounded self and the unconscious defence mechanisms that we employ, keeping us out of touch with the depth of our inner being. Though the overriding message of the book is a challenging one, we are encouraged to go toward ourselves with compassion and love, and readily fall into the open arms of an all-understanding God, who desires to heal our inner being.
