This book describes the characterization of the equine adenosine A2A and A3 receptors. Further implications of how they can be utilized as pharmacological targets for the treatment of equine endotoxemia is also included. Taken together, the results herein indicate that the respective receptors heterologously expressed in HEK293 cells may be used as a unique tool for their further characterization. Based on evidence obtained from these experiments, it seems highly likely that the original hypothesis is correct and the eA2A and eA3-R can be utilized as pharmacological targets in the treatment of equine endotoxemia.
