There is an increasing tendency of macrosomic newborn across the world, especially in developed countries due to weight gain in women before and during pregnancy and changing life style related factors. The scenario is also going to be comparable in developing countries in the coming years because of increasing age at marriage of women, gestational diabetes mellitus, changing food habits and so on. Thus, understanding the risk factors of macrosomic infants are imperative since they elevate risks of both maternal and neonatal complications as well as they are associated with the future health risks of newborns.
