Staphylococcus aureus is a pervasive pathogen in hospital and community with constantly changing trends in virulence, resistance and epidemiology. Methicillin resistance in Staphylococcus aureus has been associated with multi-drug resistance leading to treatment failure, greater mortality, morbidity, longer hospital stay. Hence, monitoring of clinical, microbiological as well as molecular parameters are necessary to modify our infection control measures and treatment options accordingly. This book provides a review on MRSA with focus on the laboratory diagnosis and antibiotic resistance pattern.
