Characteristics of Schools with Frequent Student Behaviour Problems

It is argued that no school or learning institution can be said to be effective or efficient if it cannot achieve its set goals. However, for any institution to achieve its educational purpose, the maintenance of good discipline is crucial. In other words, discipline is one of the necessary pre-conditions for creating school effectiveness. This book, based on a research conducted in some schools in the Eastern Province of Zambia, discusses some characteristics of schools with severe student behaviour problems. Some of the issues discussed are: the quality of relationships obtaining in the schools; the suitability of the curriculum; the disciplinary climate of the schools; the level of student involvement in the affairs of the schools; and general school management.
