Studies were undertaken to elicit information on variability, association among yield components and genetic divergence among the one-parent families of Populus deltoides assembled in progeny trial at Forest College and Research Institute, Mettupalayam during 2012-2013. Results indicated significant variation among twelve-parent families in respect of clone seedling parameters like height, collar diameter, number of leaves, leaf breadth and leaf length, CGR, RGR, biochemical attributes viz., chlorophyll 'a', chlorophyll 'b', total chlorophyll, chlorophyll a/b ratio and crude protein content. Photosynthesis effect viz., transpiration rate, stomatal conductance, intercellular C02 concentration, photosynthetic rate. The clone of FCRIPD-10 is found to be consistently superior for seedling attributes such as height, collar diameter and leaf length: breadth ratio and high protein content. The chlorophyll content of superior progeny is FCRIPD-12 Chl a, Chl b and Chl total. The selected superior clones FCRIPD-10, FCRIPD-11, FCRIPD-3 are the best clones from the various trail programs.
