The main causes triggered recent global financial crisis and the topic of bank bailouts in the US were discussed and debated thoroughly. Financial statements of four medium-sized commercial banks are reviewed, in order to elicit and understand which specific features were taken into account by the US government to give a hand to a bank in difficult economic situation. The research concludes that the implementation of bailouts were inevitable to prevent the relapse of the Great Depression, inspite of their high costs and negative consequences.
