The Uruguay round of multilateral trade negotiations was launched in September, 1986 which covered 15 areas with lack of agreement among member countries with respect to agriculture, patent act and trade in services. Finally WTO agreement came into existence that contained Agreement on Agriculture with three important provisions, namely, market access, export competition and domestic support. These provisions have certainly affected India's trade in agriculture commodities. This book analyses the origin and growth of World Trade Organization and also the impact of WTO on India's agricultural trade. It explains the trends in India's agricultural trade in principal commodities during pre- and post-WTO periods. This book discusses important policy measures for expansion of India's trade in agricultural commodities.
