Towards a Makeup Designing Model: Based on Intersemiotic Translation and Physiognomy
Sheida Mehrabi Roshan
Makeup designing is a rich discipline which is intensely related to the sciences of physiognomy, semiotics, psychology, anthropology, history, etc. However, it has been always seen as a practical skill which is only about application techniques and, consequently, there are not sufficient scientific investigations on the ways it develops meaning, all the various branches of knowledge which take important roles in designing a character, and its different methods of designing. Nonetheless, it has different principles and methods which are processed in the mind of the makeup designer/artist in order to be chosen with regard to the knowledge and the thoughts of him to reach a specific makeup design.
